Friendship

No group of people has taught me more about friendship than my Haitian friends, most specifically Steeve Derard, so it’s fitting that the next word for A Word to Remember is Friendship on this day as Steeve starts his journey back home to Haiti.

Steeve and I have done a lot of life together these last 13 years, and I have learned so much about the faithfulness of God through it all. Our friendship may not make sense when evaluated from a human perspective, but I believe it was ordained of God for our growth and our good.

The future is so very uncertain as decisions are being made at the highest level that affect individual lives and stories, not the least of which being Steeve’s ability to travel to the USA and beyond.

But we will continue to do what we have been doing for 13 years.

Walking out the journey as friends, even with all of our personal wounds and blemishes exposed, our imperfections, right out where people can see them.

It changes lives. It’ll change you.
